Know Your Plate is an AI-powered meal nutrition tracker developed and operated by Shubham, an individual developer. The App helps users photograph or describe their meals, receive instant nutritional insights, and build healthy eating habits — optionally with connected family members.
For all privacy matters, contact: knowyourplate.life@gmail.com
We collect only what is necessary to provide the App's features. The table below lists every category of personal data we handle.

| Body Metrics | Age, height, weight, biological gender, health goal | You enter during onboarding |
| Meal Data | Meal photos (JPEG), text meal descriptions, AI-analysed nutrition results (calories, macros, insights) | You provide via camera, gallery, or text input |
| Nutrition Log | Daily macro totals, streak counts, daily insight summaries | Auto-generated from your meal logs |

Body metrics and meal nutrition data may constitute health-related information. We process this data solely to provide the core nutrition tracking functionality you explicitly request. We do not use this data for medical diagnosis or treatment recommendations.
Your data is stored in two places:
On your device (local): Meal data, nutrition logs, and connection details are first stored locally using encrypted on-device storage (Hive) for fast, offline access.
On Firebase (cloud): Data is synced to Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Storage) hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase servers are located in the asia-south2 (Mumbai, India) region. Your meal images are stored in Firebase Storage. EU users' data may be processed by Google in the EU through their infrastructure.
We implement the following safeguards: HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit; Firebase Security Rules to enforce that only authenticated users can read or write their own data; Firebase Authentication for all account access; compressed and anonymised meal image uploads; no plaintext storage of passwords (Google handles authentication).
We use the following sub-processors to operate the App. Each has their own privacy policy which governs how they handle data.
We do not currently use any advertising networks or marketing analytics platforms. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and notify you.
We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
With connected users (your "People"): When you log a meal and the sharing toggle is enabled, your meal photo or description, food items, and summary insight are visible to your connected users. You can disable this toggle on any individual meal before saving.
With service providers: Only with the sub-processors listed in Section 5, strictly to operate the App.
Legal requirements: If required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority.
Business transfer: If the App is acquired or merged with another entity, your data may be transferred. You will be notified of any such change and your rights under this policy will continue to apply.
The App sends push notifications for meal reminders, streak alerts, daily nutrition insights, and social updates from your connections. Push notifications require your permission, which you grant through your device's standard OS permission dialogue.
We use your device timezone to schedule notifications at locally appropriate times (e.g. dinner reminders at 8 PM your local time). Your FCM token — a device identifier used to route notifications — is stored securely in Firebase.
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Notifications → Know Your Plate; Android: Settings → Apps → Know Your Plate → Notifications). Disabling notifications does not delete your account or data.
Know Your Plate is designed for users aged 13 and older. The App is intentionally designed to be used by teenagers alongside a parent or family member as part of a shared healthy eating habit.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App. If we become aware that a user under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete that data promptly.
Users aged 13–17 should use the App with awareness and, where appropriate, involvement of a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians who believe their child under 13 has used the App may contact us at knowyourplate.life@gmail.com to request data deletion.
Body metric data (height, weight, age) collected during onboarding is used solely to generate appropriate personalised nutrition targets and is never shared externally or used for advertising.
Depending on where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
You can correct inaccurate data through the Edit Profile screen in the App.
You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us.
You can ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
You can request your data in a machine-readable format (EU/EEA users).
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.
Where processing is consent-based (sharing, notifications), you can withdraw at any time in-App.
California residents: we do not sell personal information. Know Your Plate does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals, as the App operates natively and not via a web browser.
To exercise any right, email knowyourplate.life@gmail.com with the appropriate subject line (see Section 12). EU/EEA residents have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as long as needed to provide the App's services.
Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data by emailing knowyourplate.life@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete My Account". We will process your request and confirm once deletion is complete, except where retention is required by law.
Meal images: Meal photos are stored in Firebase Storage under your user ID. They are deleted when you delete the corresponding meal or when your account is deleted.
Local data: Data stored on your device (via Hive local storage) is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data through your device settings.
Analytics data: Firebase Analytics retains aggregated, anonymised event data per Google's standard retention policy (up to 14 months by default). This data does not identify you personally.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For material changes (such as changes to how we share data or adding advertising), we will notify you via a push notification or an in-App notice at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Previous versions are available on request.
